The ASA is inviting expressions of interest from members wishing to be represented on our ASA Awards of Excellence judging panel. The role of the ASA Awards of Excellence judging panel is to:

·         Support the objectives of the ASA Awards of Excellence program

·         Review nominations for all the ASA Awards of Excellence

·         Determine all finalists and recipients in a credible process that ensures results are above censure

·         Review and make recommendations regarding the selection criteria

Please contact the ASA National Office for details of the judging and award process or visit the ASA website for more information about the 2011 ASA Awards of Excellence.

Rural and Remote Sonographer Scholarship 2011 – Applications close 8 October

Now more than ever, the ASA recognises the challenges associated with living and working in rural and remote areas including limited access to workshops and conferences resulting in fewer opportunities to stay up to date with current advancements and techniques in sonography. The ASA Rural and Remote Sonographer Scholarship is offered to support the education needs of ASA members working in rural areas.

The Scholarship provides registration for ASA2011 Brisbane and includes travel and accommodation expenses associated with attending the conference, the opportunity to publish your work in soundeffects and the opportunity to present at ASA2011 Brisbane.

Who should apply?

The successful applicant must be a financial Ordinary or Student member of the ASA, living in Australia but more than 100km from a major capital city and have conducted a research project or identified a case to investigate.

Visit the ASA website for more information.

Are you using your ASA member logo?

As the peak body and leading voice for sonographers, this designation also serves as a powerful statement to peers, employers, regulators and patients about your commitment to clinical and professional excellence.

ASA2011 Brisbane – call for papers opens 17 September 2010

Paper presentations are the ultimate way to share ideas and gain recognition for your expertise among fellow professionals. Your participation is precisely what the ASA2011 Brisbane conference culture of innovation and knowledge sharing is all about. Delegates can benefit directly from your paper presentation by applying your perspectives and ideas to their own work environment.

Six reasons why you should submit a paper for presentation:

1.     Professional development - Enhance your skills to help you take the next step in your career

2.     Education -  Use the process of preparing a paper as an opportunity to identify better ways to deal with medical imaging issues

3.     Insightful feedback -  Get helpful feedback on your ideas

4.     Key connections - Increase your potential by meeting contacts and colleagues in your profession

5.     Information sharing - Enjoy sharing your ideas and participating in educating other members of the sonographic community
