Membership Renewals now due – renew online by 30 June 2010 for your chance to win Don’t let your membership and insurance lapse. Only ASA members receive up-do-date news and information through e -mode, Advocacy Alert, soundeffects and the ASA website. Congratulations to the 2010 recipient of the Pru Pratten Memorial Award for Sonographer Achievement Congratulations to Bonita Anderson who has been recognised by the Australian Sonographers Association as the 2010 recipient of the Pru Pratten Memorial Award for Sonographer Achievement. This prestigious award provides formal recognition of Bonita’s personal efforts which have made an extraordinary contribution to the field of sonography. Keep an eye out for the next issue of soundeffects detailing Bonita’s achievements.

The Competency Framework for Sonographers – Last chance for feedback The ASA thanks all those sonographers who have submitted comments on the consultation draft of The Competency Framework for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers – your input is most valuable. We did however receive requests for extension to the original deadline and therefore welcome further feedback submitted on or before Friday 25 June. ‘Snapshot of sonography’ – survey coming soon The ASA is the only Australian organisation dedicated to protecting and advancing the interests of all sonographers. Your participation in this important project will ensure the ASA can inform members of workplace trends while also providing valuable information to ensure the ASA can continue to lobby government, educators and regulators on your behalf. Keep an eye out for the online survey and assist us in working towards a sustainable future for all sonographers.

ASA events
SIG2010 Sydney – 21-22 August 2010 Tailored to suit sonographers specialising in women’s imaging and musculoskeletal sonography, this year’s annual Special Interest Group seminar returns to the popular two-day format. Mark these dates in your diary and review the preliminary information available now on the ASA website. The finishing touches are being put to the education program, which will include the popular Management and Communication workshops - held at ASA2010 Melbourne - on Friday 20 August.
ASA2010 Melbourne highlights Over 1300 delegates attended a hugely successful ASA2010 Melbourne. The three days featured seven concurrent sessions including four streams of workshops and three streams of plenary sessions plus Cardiac Day on Saturday, that’s more than 150 presentations. With around one third of Australia’s sonographers in attendance and over 30,000 CPD points accumulated over three days, ASA2010 Melbourne was celebrated as the largest educational and networking experience for sonographers in Australia.
Many new innovations were incorporated into ASA2010 Melbourne - we would love to receive your feedback on this year's event so we can ensure ASA2011 Brisbane and future events meet your expectations. Travelling Workshops 2010/11 - dates for your diary The ASA Travelling Workshops promote best practice in sonography by providing continuing education and a forum for communication.
