The ASA Awards of Excellence honours outstanding achievement in sonography. As the peak body and leading voice for sonographers, the ASA is committed to rewarding excellence and best practice in sonography. Offering a unique opportunity to celebrate our most outstanding sonographers, the ASA Awards of Excellence seek to recognise exceptional contributions to our profession.
the categories for the 2011 ASA Awards of Excellence
- Sonographer of the Year – The Pru Pratten Memorial Award
This award may be conferred annually. It recognises an ASA accredited sonographer who, by their personal efforts and desire for excellence, advances the profession of sonography. The recipients of Sonographer of the Year for each state/territory/NZ will be automatically considered for Sonographer of the Year – The Pru Pratten Memorial Award.
- Sonographer of the Year in each state/territory
This award recognises an ASA accredited sonographer per geographical area who, by their personal efforts and desire for excellence, advances the profession of sonography. Recipients from each state/territory/NZ are automatically considered for Sonographer of the Year – The Pru Pratten Memorial Award.
- Mentor of the Year
this award recognises an ASA accredited sonographer whose dedication, skills and passion supports those entering, establishing or advancing themselves in the sonography profession.
- Trainer of the Year
This award recognises ASA accredited sonographers who consistently show professionalism and commitment to teaching and learning and professional development opportunities.
- Researcher of the Year
This award recognises an ASA accredited sonographer who has contributed significantly to research in adding to new knowledge and/or innovation and/or clinical care improvements within sonography.
- Graduate Sonographer of the Year
This award recognises a newly accredited Sonographer (accredited within 2 years of being nominated) whose academic achievements, career aspirations and ambassadorial skills have assisted them in meeting their career aspirations.
- Employer of the Year
This award recognises the commitment a workplace demonstrates in supporting sonography, implementing career development initiatives and advancement in the workplace.
